The Life You Want

The Life You Want

Released on November 18, 2020

About This Song

I wrote this song as I reflected on my children and how I was as a parent. Often wondering if I was over protective, if I taught them good life lessons, and if I gave them the opportunities to learn from their own experiences.

Also it’s about how time is precious while they are living at home and the day when they move out comes faster than we expect.

As my children get older, I realize I have to let them make their own decisions but at the same time let them know that I am available to listen.

It is their life to live, it’s not mine. They need to live the life they want and become the person they want to be.

Lyrics

1st Verse

Seems like yesterday, I held you in my arms

And today I look up to your eyes

So much has changed

I tried to warn you of, the things that could go wrong

And everything that I would do

If I were you

Now I think everyday

Was that for me to say

Did it do you good or harm

2nd Verse

Soon will come the day, when you’ll choose to move away

It always seemed so far from me in my mind

But I was wrong

I wanted you to feel, the choices were your own

Or did you just agree, because you knew

I’d have my way

Now I think everyday

Was that for me to say

Did it do you good or harm

Pre-Chorus

I used to tell you how to play

I used to try to save the day

I tried to push your troubles all away ay

Chorus

I’ve gotta let you live your life, your way

You’re gonna make mistakes and that’s ok

Yea that’s ok

It’s the price of growing each and every day

I gotta let you live the life, you want

Your way
