This is a song that my friend and I used to play together on our guitars back when we were in university. My family and I get together with a couple of my friends and their families at least twice a year. A couple of summers ago, I put together the instrument parts and during the get together, I recorded my friend singing the vocals and performing the guitar solos. The background singers are some of the kids and some of the parents
1st Verse
Shed a tear 'cause I'm missin' you
I'm still alright to smile
Girl, I think about you every day now
Was a time when I wasn't sure
But you set my mind at ease
There is no doubt you're in my heart now
Chorus
Said "woman take it slow, and it'll work itself out fine"
All we need is just a little patience
Said "sugar make it slow and we'll come together fine"
All we need is just a little patience
2nd Verse
I sit here on the stairs
'Cause I'd rather be alone
If I can't have you right now, I'll wait dear
Sometimes I get so tense but I can't speed up the time
But you know love there's one more thing to consider
Chorus
Said "woman take it slow and things will be just fine"
You and I'll just use a little patience
Said "sugar take the time 'cause the lights are shining bright"
You and I've got what it takes to make it
We won't fake it, I'll never break it
'Cause I can't take it
Guitar Solo
Outro
I've been walking the streets at night
Just trying to get it right
It's hard to see with so many around
You know I don't like being stuck in the crowd
And the streets don't change but maybe the names
I ain't got time for the game 'cause I need you
Yeah, yeah, yeah but I need you
Oh, I need you
Oh, I need you
Ooh this time
I live on a farm in South-Western Ontario, Canada with my wife, two sons, dog, and cat. I have always had a love of music. I love to listen for things in songs that I have not noticed before. When I was young, I would tape the radio during the day so that I could hopefully get a recording of a song that I liked. (On demand music did not exist). I can remember the first time that I listened to a song on stereo speakers, Rock Rock (Till You Drop) by Def Leppard. I was amazed at the rich, punchy, full stereo sound that I did not hear on my mom's rectangle shaped mono tape player. (You know the one with the record button inside the play button that if you accidentally pushed, you would record over your music).
In todays world, it is now possible to submit songs directly to streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, & Deezer, just to name a few. I have had these songs in my head for many years, each at different stages of development. Through the use of music distribution services like Tunecore, and the availability of singer services such as StudioPros as well as recording software like Logic Pro X with plugins from Waves, Izotope, & Melodyne, the imagination is the limit. I wish I had this technology available when I was a teenager. There is only so much you can do with a 4 track tape recorder.
With YouTube, there are a lot of great teaching videos about recording, mixing, and mastering music from people such as Graham Cochrane from Recording Revolution, Rob Mayzes from Musician On A Mission, Jason Moss from Behind The Speakers, and Warren Huart from Produce Like A Pro. Thank you for all your awesome videos.
I hope that you will enjoy these songs and they mean something special and unique to you. I plan to continue to produce them as they come ready.
